What is Bodo ?

What actually Bodo is ?

Bodo is a language, a tribe and a community of India, Nepal and Bangladesh.


 Large number of Bodo people live in India and their mother tongue is Bodo. It is said that Bodo language is a member of Tibeto-burman or Sino- Tibetan language family. Bodo language is one of the Eighth Schedule languages of Indian Constitution.
Bodo language is officially used in Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) and as associate official language in Assam , India.


Bodo group of people are included as Scheduled Tribe(ST) in the Constitution of India. As per 2011 indian government' Socio-Economic sencus, there is 1.5 million Bodo speakers in Assam.
